HEROES CON 2010
(Charlotte, NC)
March 13 and 14, 2010 - Artist
Alley A-02
As every year,
I will be attending HEROES CON
in Charlotte this
coming week. It's no secret that I rate Heroes Con (and
Shelton Drum,
Dustin Harbin, and all
the wonderful folks involved) one of the best show of
the year so I am definitely looking forward to it.
And I am definitley looking
forward to meet you all. To make it easier, in addition
to let you know I will be sitting in
Artist Alley table 303
(among good and talented friends
Chris Samnee,
Brian Hurtt, and
Steve Epting), I also made two big banners
that will help (hopefully) you to spot me also from far
away :)
Look for a giant floating skull with crown and tentacles
and a Queen of Heart (a heart with crown, many eyes, and
tentacles ;))
As always, I will have plenty of sketchbooks and prints
and the very last few copies of my
Black Beetle ashcan. And, of course,
plenty of ink and Strathmore bristol boards for your
requested sketches :)
See you there in a very
few days :)
And speaking of Charlotte, the city has now the very
first NASCAR museum of the United States of America, so
I think it's kinda fitting that I let you know about
this book I was asked to do a cover for last year (and
that is finally out and available for purchase).
"Super Stock Rookie" by Will Weaver
Trace Bonham has just scored an amazing ride—a
brand-new, corporate-sponsored Super Stock. The sleek,
custom-built machine runs like a dream. He’s set up with
a professional crew, a top-of-the-line car hauler, and a
great big paycheck; it all feels too good to be true. Of
course, there’s a price for everything. Trace has to
turn over the car he started in, his dad’s Street Stock
Chevy, to another driver. He’s also no longer welcome at
his hometown speedway—or by the girl he adores who runs
it—since his new team made it all too clear they think
it’s a hayseed operation. So what? There are bigger and
better speedways, and more girls, in Trace’s future. But
can he handle the speed of success?
"The novel is likely to appeal to youngsters who
normally shy away from fiction.”—School Library Journal
“Weaver draws from his auto-racing experience to
continue Trace’s story from Saturday Night Dirt (2008)
and to bring to life the small-town, dirt-track racing
world. Racing action, sharp dialogue and solid
characterization make this a good bet for young sports
fans.”—Kirkus Reviews
“There is no doubt that Weaver knows his way around
stock cars, and he puts the reader in the middle of the
action.”—VOYA
“Weaver offers outstanding descriptions of the races,
putting readers in the center of the action.”—Booklist

The origin of the original team of crime-fighters

of Aaron Campbell
and Francesco Francavilla,

adventures of the Green Hornet from Kevin Smith and
Dynamite!
Our tale is split across time, following both Britt and
Kato developing into the men they would become and the
adventures they formed together as the Green Hornet and
Kato! 'Wagner takes the reins of the first Green Hornet,
Britt Reid, and sets the story in the halcyon days of
the 1930s, when the Green Hornet radio program first
aired. I love the period piece he's working with because
it's such a big difference from the Green Hornet Kevin
Smith is currently writing.' -BlogCritics.com
